Orchestrate :
To arrange the elements of a situation to produce the desired effect. Mostly used in a musical sense as in an orchestra.
Do you ever marvel when things fall into place, especially after long nights of worrisome sleep? How about when they don’t come together, but later, upon reflection, the pieces formed a completely different picture?
I have a dear friend who was broken. Her marriage was over, new job, new house, new situations all over. I hadn’t seen her in years, but a work meeting placed us in the same place at the same time. She was just going through the motions, one day at a time. I listened, tried to understand, offered a kind hug or two and we went our separate ways. On the drive home, my heart was breaking for her and lyrics began to pour out, praying Jesus would hold her together until the broken pieces fell into place.
Fast forward, she found a great guy that she knew in high school, and now they are married and life is great. I gave her a copy of my old lyrics as a wedding gift. The broken pieces were finally in place.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
Orchestrated? Definitely.
We consider an orchestra as a very large group of musicians. A smaller group is usually referred to as a ensemble.
Ensemble :
A group of items viewed as a whole rather than individually.
The music, whether for a large or small group is still orchestrated.
I felt like a member of an ensemble being orchestrated by the Great Director. Yet instead of having the full score where I can peek at the last page, I am being directed to sight read as the notes come along. God says the grand finale is written, but we are not prepared for it yet.
So the first movement of that symphony was tense, but ended beautifully. The measures in-between were the hard ones.
Our lives go through many measures, some minor, some major, some diminished, some sustained. God directs the melodies of our heart. We just have to listen and stay in tune.
One day, the Grand Finale will be amazing.
Learning to be directed,
Trying to stay in tune,
And Blessed in Great Measure
