The warrior towered over remnants of the battlefield, his armor beaten but holding firm. A broken breastplate and damaged chain-mail showed signs of battle. Mud, sweat and the crimson stain of lifeblood, some of others, some of his own.
The captain bumped shields and said, “You, my friend, have the strength of a conqueror and the heart of a champion.”
Yet, beneath the armor, it was apparent that it stood on its own. My warrior’s heart is weak, facing each challenger as they come, but having little time to recover, rejuvenate.
You’d think there would be time to rest, yet the battle resumes long before the sun breaks the horizon.
The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him and He helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I will praise Him. Psalm 28:7
He is my armor and He is why my armor still stands. My heart is grateful, but leaping? That’s a little much for now.
But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show this all surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 2 Corinthians 4:7-9
Hard pressed and struck down, but not crushed, not destroyed.
Jesus withdrew to quiet places to pray and recharge while the world slept.
I, too, have spent many sleepless nights watching others rest, just making sure they are breathing.
There has been prayer.
But rejuvenation?
Just enough to get by or so it seems.
But I do know this:
He restoreth my soul. Psalm 23:3
He Restoreth.
My heart will leap for joy, and my song will praise Him.
Thank You, Jesus.
